Admiral Bert Genovese. Bert studied American culture before landing on earth. He was convinced that the most politically important landmass was an island called USA and so it was important to assimilate its ideology. He likes to play guitar, croon, shoot guns and chew tobacco, neither activity ingratiate him to his present neighbours in Stockport.

Time-engineer Dr E. He is the crews space-time navigator. This loon miscalculated the landing crafts arrival date, but he has convinced the rest of the crew the planet is still in an era known as the dark-ages. His job is to meter out time.

Bass Officer Ding. Ding is responsible for the recording activities and bass-ically assists the timeengineer, by filling out space with bone crunching long frequencies. Ding refused to change his name from the one his mother gave him "Ding-ring-a ting."

Winger. Ace Winger is the spaceships pilot, and behaves like one. It's his job to get them all home, and to do this he uses the most fearsome hooks and rhythms known to the intelligent cosmos.

Playmaker's debut single, Arizona, picked up plays on Radio One and alt.rock station XFM, where Claire Sturgess declared it to be "Quality stuff, I think you'll agree." The video for Arizona, which features the band playing in a battered caravan, to a "capacity crowd," was directed by Jon Harris (editor of Guy Ritchie films Snatch and Layer Cake).

On hearing a promo copy of the single, former Crowded House manager, Grant Thomas immediately licensed the single via Pale Fox for release in Australia on his new indie label, Little Big Music.

In March this year, Playmaker travelled to China to play a mini-tour. Playing three dates in Beijing and two dates in Qingdao on the East coast, they became the first evert British band to play there, headlining the Qingdao Max Festival to 2000 people.

Now back in London where they are based, Playmaker release their single, 'Sunshine' in August and support this with shows over the summer.

Quist is a 25 year old Danish singer & songwriter, living & breathing through his home studio in Hackney, London. He's educated as a jazz guitarist from the Royal Academy of Music, London.

Inspired by the intimacy of songwriters like Nick Drake and Elliott Smith - and the creativity of artists like Beck and Thom Yorke - Quist has just finished his emotional lo-fi debut Blue Blue Blue. The album is essentially a sonic distillation of own encounters with the opposite sex, but no less relevant and heart-wrenching at that. It's a very personal affair, an ode to broken relationships - a catharsis that anyone who's ever loved and lost can go through.

With several tracks from the album airing on a new TV series on Denmark's main TV channel, produced by the award-winning Achtung Film - and lots going on for Quist in both the UK and mainland Europe, it's hard not to imagine a great many people learning to pronounce his name in the near future!

Marcus was born in Kings Cross London and from an early age was played Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and an array of blues and folk by his father who made him tapes of old LP's he owned, Marcus proceeded to break these tapes through over playing quicker than his dad could make them till he was given a guitar made from a shoe box and elastic bands to keep him occupied. It wasn't till 12 years later at the age of 15 he actually picked up a real guitar. Whilst attending music school in Liverpool he formed a 3-piece Blues band and at this point decided that singing would be a good thing to try, as you only have to split the wage three ways. Marcus learnt his trade as a front man by playing 3 sets a night sometimes being on stage for up to 3hours or until people could physically dance no more of the drummer collapsed and got into a few scrapes with bar owners for playing longer than their licenses would allow. His residencies at Hannah's Bar and The Bumper in Liverpool fast became two of the most happening nights in the city. As a session player he had the opportunity to support artists such as Simply Red, Omar, The Proclaimers, Go West, George Michael. Now 25 years old with 2 years of touring behind him he started his solo project in September 2007 and has been playing in London venues The Bedford, Regal Room and Marquee with more dates booked for the coming months and also plans to record his first EP before Christmas.

Artist: Jenny Lynn Smith

Track: Garden Path

Born and raised in the beautiful Devon countryside Jenny’s love of music was influenced at an early age by her father. He used to write songs for her, which she would then perform with him at holiday camps all over the south of England. So successful were they that she even won a BBC Talent contest which lead to an appearance on ‘Live & Kicking’. It was following this that Jenny decided on a career in music.

She subsequently went to Performing Arts College to refine her skills and hone that beautiful voice. In early 2007 and now 19 years old Jenny moved to London to seek fame and fortune. One of her first encounters was with former Stereophonics manager John Brand who immediately recognised her considerable talent and signed her for management. Together they set about finding co-writers, musicians and producers to help Jenny develop her musical style, which can best be described as a unique combination of Jazz and sophisticated Pop. Influence now by a wide range of musical icons from Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday and Etta James to Dido, Norah Jones and Corinne Bailey Rae, Jenny’s music and songs have an originality all of her own.

2008 will see Jenny release her first album and perform shows across the country with her new band.

Since the early age of 10 Carrie has ventured into the song-writing world of a musician determined to settle for none less than the best results. She was brought up in the tiny island called Malta, which floats at the heart of the Mediterranean sea. This is where Carrie has been hiding away developing her alternative yet playful musical style and waiting for the right moment to share it with the world. As Lorieanne Vella, a writer who has experienced Carrie performing live described: "she manages to combine opposing emotions, in harmony." Lucky for her, Carrie was encouraged to start taking piano lessons from her grandmother at the age of 5 and her passion for singing soon developed together with her natural ability for song-writing. Her attraction to the limelight was initially what sparked this exciting venture when she realised that every time she performed at the piano, every time she sang her songs, she would be smothered with attention…. which in her mind is a very good thing! And as her mother once pointed out, if she started reacting to music even before she was born, then what's to stop her now?!
 Indeed, Carrie does not intend to let anything get in the way of her music career. She is now working on her debut album which needless to say makes her so excited. The studio is booked, the musicians have been chosen and the songs have been written. This is where the magic begins… at least once she’s narrowed down her collection of 200 songs! So many years have been spent on developing this particular style, which was inspired by amazing artists such as Radiohead, early Goldfrapp, Tori Amos, Jeff Buckley, Kate Nash, Regina Spektor, The Cardigans, Franz Ferdinand, Bjork, Fiona Apple, Muse, Kate Bush and many more. Carrie can't wait any longer to perform her music on that magical stage she adores so much. Nor can she wait for the recognition she believes her music deserves.  
 With little effort Carrie has already succeeded in attracting the attention of several promoters and has found herself singing to huge crowds at the YMCA Bob Geldof concert as well as at Sting's afterparty, both held in Malta. Other performances include the Europavox festival in France, a performance in Ragusa, Sicily, and several local festivals including the greatly anticipated 10th Anniversary of Teatru Unplugged at the Manuel Theatre, the Farsons Beer Festival, the Bay Music Awards and the Xfm music festival featuring Bob Sinclar as well as Malta's finest acts. No doubt that once the album is finished people will be seeing a lot more of her.
Shaun Grech, writer for the local magazine Life & Style, spoke of Carrie as "gifted with an amazing vocal range and mature song-writing and piano playing skills" and "destined for success beyond our shores". Now leave it to the album to prove him right!
